WRITER
MINI-PROFILE
A commemorative feature on Brian Moore, who died in early January
1999. Widely respected but in some ways under-estimated in the literary
world, it seems certain that his legacy will live on.
His quietly insistent but understated prose struck a chord with readers
when he published his first novel, 'The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne',
to great acclaim.
He published many novels over the years including 'The Luck of Ginger
Coffey', 'Fergus', 'I Am Mary Dunne,' 'The Doctor's Wife' and 'Black Robe'.
He also wrote a number of successful screenplays.
In this feature directed by Brendan Byrne, we hear from other writers
about the influence and lasting impact of Brian Moore's work and revisit
some archive material which shows him in interview.
