MINI-PROFILE
Brendan J. Byrne directs a mini-feature on Belfast poet and writer Ciaran
Carson. Drawing on his collection of poems, 'The Ballad of HMS Belfast',
in this evocative and compelling film Carson takes us on a journey through
the city that he maps in his work and explores the connections between
city, map and dweller as he looks back on the Belfast that he grew up
in, a city that is fast disappearing.
Carson is recognised as a fine and accomplished poet at the height of
his powers. In addition to poetry Carson has published a guide to traditional
Irish music and is an accomplished singer-musician.
