MINI-PROFILE
Susie Fallon directs on mini-feature on Colum McCann. Born in Dublin,
McCann is the author of 'Songdogs', a novel and 'Fishing the Sloe-Black
River', a story collection, which received the Rooney Award for Irish
Literature.
'This Side of Brightness' moved away from the Ireland of his previous
work and is set in New York, where he now lives with his wife and family.
The highly acclaimed novel takes on the building of New York, specifically
the tunnels beneath the city, from the men who dug them at the turn of
the century to the homeless people who live in them today. We explore
the tunnels with McCann as he seeks out old friends.
