Loopline Film custom-designed Creative Documentary Courses for emerging directors on behalf of Screen Training Ireland continue to be a highlight of Loopline activities. Over the last eight years Loopline has been honored to host workshops by some of the most talented documentary filmmakers in the world., DA Pennebaker - 'The War Room - Don't Look Back' Chris Hedagus - 'Start.Com', John T Davis - 'Hobo' & 'Route 66', Kim Longinitto 'Divorce - Iranian Style', Les Blank - 'Burden of Dreams', Philip King - 'Bringing It All Back Home', Peter Lydon - 'Peter Sellers' and Alan Gilsenan - 'The Road To God Knows Where'.

In 2002 Loopline built on the success of the first year and were successful in securing the services of Shari Robertson and Michael Camerini, creators of the acclaimed documentary 'Well Founded Fear', Phil Grabsky - 'Muhammid Ali' and Slavomir Grunberg's - 'Morning Prayer. On the home front we also had master classes from Harvey O'Brien, John T Davis, and Philip King. The course now has the honor of being validation by UCLA.


Training at Griffith College

Loopline Training was initiated when the company took up residence on the Griffith College campus where it became involved in building a close relationship with the head of the Journalism Faculty, Niall Meehan.

Working closely with Niall, Loopline helped design a one year 'City and Guild Video Production Course'.

Students from Griffith have since won prestigious awards like best TV production at the 'Oxygen Media Awards' and 'Best Short Film - Cast 2001' (TV3).

Loopline continues to have a mutually rewarding relationship with Griffith College, providing work experience and specialist education modules for its students.


Screen Training Ireland - Documentary Course

In 2001, Loopline was invited by Screen Training Ireland to design a course for emerging directors involved in the making of documentaries.

Loopline MD, Sé Merry Doyle with producers Martina Durac and Linda O'Sullivan designed the first course in collaboration with the Galway Film Centre. With enormous support from Mary Lyons and Helen McMahon from Screen Training Ireland the course was born.

Over a period of one week, ten students came face-to-face with documentary filmmakers of international repute. Workshops / Lectures

On a regular basis Loopline MD, Sé Merry Doyle is involved in lecturing at the various film institutes like: Film Base, Galway Film Centre and DLCAD. Loopline can design tailor made courses in documentary making and allied skills like camera, editing, and direction. Using the Loopline catalogue as the template we provide workshops on request from media institutions.


Irish Centre Hammersmith

Sé was involved in programming the former 'Irish Film Festival in London' and currently runs a monthly showcase of new Irish Documentaries work at the Irish Centre in Hammersmith, London.

This years course was held in the Odessa Club in Dublin and included tutors Yulie Cohen My Terrorist Brian Hill Drinking for England Sean McCallister ‘The Liberace Of Baghdad’,

Previous courses included visits from well-known directors from Europe, Ireland and the USA offering intensive master-classes in all aspects of documentary filmmaking to a small group of upcoming directors.
